"The best thing about tomorrow, is that it will be better than today"
-Tiger Woods
During the summer of 2021, Justin had a diving accident that shattered his C5 vertebrae and left him with a Spinal Cord Injury that limits his mobility from his chest down. From the moment of injury, Justin, while of course scared, was also determined that this is not where his story ends. He has been determined to put in the work, and recover as much function as possible, all while being an amazing husband to Sarah, and dad to Harrison (5) and Samson (2).
Justin spent 2 months at Spaulding Rehabilitation in Charlestown, MA, and then returned home to his family, where the real work began. Justin and Sarah work together every day to ensure that he has the care he needs, and gets the rehabilitation that will help him get stronger while keeping their household running and family happy.
A year post-injury, Justin and Sarah really started to have the urge to help and give back. There is so much to learn and navigate about managing a spinal cord injury, and Justin and Sarah really believe they can help others, especially during the first year when everything is new, and the learning curve is steep. The two most important things they've dedicated themselves to is helping to provide access to exercise and impactful rehab and providing advocacy and resources for families navigating this new world.
Fun fact: “T-Bird” was Justin’s nickname by his best friends growing up!
